Rules were made to be broken?

I just finished seeing, "He's Just Not That Into You." And I have also read the book. I read the book a while ago, but I remember liking the fact that its straight forward, in your face, bam, he doesn't like you, get ova it! It also dishes out, "The Rules." Now, as girls, we spend our entire lives learning THE RULES. Some girls live by them, exactly, hell will freeze before they do anything not by the rules. But the rules are so hard to do! Waiting on a guy to call, miserable! Sitting around analyzing everything he has ever said to you, because that hug totally meant he's the one for me, let's plan a wedding. Are the rules really how every single girl should act, all the time? Do you really have to wait on him to call? Is it really true that if a guy wants to date you, he will, no matter what? I mean, aren't there guys out there who need a little help? Maybe they need you to help them along, show them you like them, give 'em a little wake up call? Do all guys really think the same? I think it's exhuasting enough for girls to debate with themselves over whether to follow the rules or not? Is being single even really all that bad? Why does hollywood insist on continuing to make movies that remind single girls that we are indeed single. I mean, why can't there be a movie about how fabulous a single girl is? Where is the movie about a girl who gets everything she ever wanted, without a man, and lived happily ever after with her manolos. So what about making just one rule? What if all the rules went out the window and someone wrote a book about one single, simply, fool-proof rule, follow your heart. period. Would we all find our soulmates and live happily ever after?
